Turn Rules in Poland
Basic Priority Rules
- Equal intersections: Priority to right
- Main road has priority (yellow diamond sign)
- Traffic signs override basic rules
Making Turns
Right Turns
- Stay on right side
- Signal right
- Yield to pedestrians
- Check for cyclists
Left Turns
- Move toward center
- Yield to oncoming traffic
- Yield to pedestrians crossing
- Signal left
Green Arrow (Zielona Strzalka)
Poland has conditional turn on red:
- Green arrow sign allows right turn on red
- Must stop first like at stop sign
- Yield to all traffic and pedestrians
- Not all intersections have this
Priority Signs

At Traffic Lights
- Red: Stop
- Red + Yellow: Prepare (still stop)
- Green: Go (yield when turning)
- Yellow: Stop if safe
- Flashing yellow: Caution, proceed
Pedestrian Rules
- Pedestrians have priority at marked crossings
- New law (2021): Must stop before crossing when pedestrian approaches
- Stricter enforcement now
Tram Priority
- Trams almost always have priority
- Only exception: Traffic lights override
- Never overtake tram on the right at stops
