Driving Age in Germany
Cars (Class B)
- Standard minimum age: 18 years
- Can start driving school at 17.5 years
- Must pass theory and practical tests
Accompanied Driving (BF17)
Germany offers "Begleitetes Fahren mit 17":
- Drive from age 17 with registered adult supervisor
- Supervisor must be 30+ years old with 5+ years experience
- No alcohol for driver (0.0 promille)
- Converts to full license at 18

Getting a German License
Requirements
- First aid course (9 hours)
- Eye test
- Theory lessons (14 ร 90 minutes)
- Practical lessons (minimum 12 special drives)
- Pass theory test (30 questions)
- Pass practical driving test
Probationary Period
- 2 years for new drivers
- Zero alcohol tolerance (0.0 promille)
- If serious offense: Extended probation + seminar
